This meaning becomes so much the clearer when we remember that the words 'bind' and 'loose' are not metaphorical, but juridical terms.

There are live versions from their 83-83 world tour, and some studio versions.though it's purported that S & G work on the album was aborted before a full album had ever been finished, and that only certain songs exist as S & G songs.

If Simon 'erased' them, then they got out before that happened. There isn't that much though. It seems like Paul's version are wither different mixes, or outright different versions/takes that what was on the unfinished S & G version that surfaced. If you read the excerpt from Paul's Playboy interview, featured in one of the threads, you'll see that part of the working agreement was that Simon had full control of production choices, & that he was going to be recording the songs, & then Artie would just work with the tracks & come up with his vocal parts.

Supposedly on the version that came out, up to the point it had stalled, one song is only instrumental backing, as that's as far as they had got in the recording process, while other songs only had Paul's vocals on them- what's contended, & supposedly what's confirmed on the pirate versions (there's liner notes from one in one of those threads) is that Artie never got very far in the recording process before things broke down. The album was originally supposed to be out before their world tour, but then it was going to come after, with S & G existing as a working partnership of some sort, on some level, and of course that never happened (well not beyond a few later live dates, & reunion tours). Much fuller picture & examples in those threads.

Regarding 'Hearts & Bones'/'Think Too Much': 'Train In The Distance' and 'Song About The Moon' were the only tracks where you can distinctly hear Art Garfunkel with Paul. Linclink gave the link to 'Song About The Moon' from YouTube, and I've tried posting 'Train In The Distance' up but YouTube took it down on me due to copyright issues.
